Owl Pellet Dissection or “What did this owl eat for lunch?”

Fourth graders carefully dissected a Barn Owl pellet to find out what the bird of prey “ate for lunch!” As part of a study of energy in the food chain, student scientists patiently sorted small bones from fur or feathers to find out how many and what types of animals the Barn Owls were consuming. These are very hungry birds!
