First graders observed seasonal changes in the forest and pond environments at J.B. Williams pond in Glastonbury, CT on a beautiful, fall, day. Our budding naturalists used all of their senses to notice interesting animals and plants living here.
They enthusiastically searched for life along the forest path and delighted in using nets to dip into the pond a discover the different types of animals that survive in the water. Giant Water Bugs, tadpoles, tiny shrimp, snails and even a Water Scorpion were examined closely by students using magnifiers to look for details and behavior of these underwater creatures!
Thank you to all of our parent volunteers on this trip and on all of our fall field study trips at GEMS!
