Grade one goes wild over sea turtles!
Ms. Sharon Gibbons, Sea Turtle Scientist from Wilmington, North Carolina visited with grade one classes today in our brand-new science lab! Ms. Gibbons showed exciting video footage of Loggerhead and Leatherback turtles hatching from eggs underneath the sand and crawling into the sea! Children viewed this interesting part of the sea turtle life cycle and compare the walking patterns of both species of tiny, baby sea turtles. Students asked Ms. Gibbons many questions about the behavior of these newly hatched turtles and they now have a special fondness for these unique sea animals!
